CatchupCon
2009
CatchupCon
2009 is all about trying something new. A lot of folks play LFR
and it's a good system. However, how about branching out and
trying something new at CatchupCon? We have a variety of Indie
Games, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, and Legend of the Five Rings adventures
for you to try out.
Living
Forgotten Realms
The con will feature a variety of LFR mods including NINE paragon mods
(presuming we can find judges for them). Paragon mods will be run
in 6 hr slots so you don't have to rush so much. The
LFR schedule is somewhat abbreviated because Weekend in the Realms was
only a month ago.
Indie
Games Revolution!
We have a bunch of independent games on the schedule. Come try
out something new (Spirit
of the Century and Serenity),
or maybe something old (Amber,
Deadlands, and Paranoia),
or get involved with one of the classics (Star
Wars and Mage).
The
Pathfinder Society
Pathfinder (PFS) is a new Organized Play system based on the Dungeons
and Dragons 3.5 rules system, but updated (somtimes called
"3.75".) You can build a new character and play in one of the
introductory mods. Pregenerated characters are also
available. More information here. http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety
Shadowrun
Missions
Shadowrun Missions (SRM) is the official sixth world campaign setting.
The players create a character and participate in sanctioned events
throughout the world. This gives players the unique opportunity to play
a Shadowrun character of their own design with different people and
different perspectives, and affect the storyline of the campaign.
We're running three scenarios on Saturday that are great for new
characters and two on Sunday that are good for more advanced
characters. More information here. http://www.shadowrun4.com/missions/
Legend
of the Five Rings
Heroes of Rokugan, which is also known as Champions of the Sapphire
Throne (and formerly as "Living Rokugan"), is an ongoing role-playing
campaign using the celebrated and richly-detailed Legend of the Five
Rings role-playing game published by Alderac Entertainment Group. You
will be able to play your characters in any HoR event that runs
anywhere in the world, gaining more experience, honor, glory, and
status, and helping to shape the fate of the Emerald Empire. More
information here. http://heroes-of-rokugan.com/
Location
CatchupCon will be at the same location this year. We're going to be at

nearby.

Sponsor
CatchupCon is sponsored by NARPGA, a non-profit group dedicated to
increasing role-playing fun in the Atlanta area.
GMs
and Volunteers
GMs and up to one volunteer per slot are needed for this con. GMs and
volunteers get to sign up for tables early, and will be seated first at
tables (never waitlisted). If you GM, you will get minis and/or other
neat stuff - we're working on trying to get RPGA convention support
packages which may include books and special RPGA rewards cards for the
judges. The four GMs who volunteer for the most slots will also have a
berth in the GM room at the con so that they can stay at the hotel for
free.
Judge 1 Slot $20.00 (Play 5 slots, early preregistration, swag)
Judge 2 Slots $10.00 (Play 4 slots, early preregistration, swag)
Judge 3 Slots
$0.00 (Play 3 slots, early preregistration, swag, perhaps free hotel
room)
Registration
- Cost - Payment
You can register for the event on this website. If you preregister
and sign up for games without waitlisting, that will guarantee you a
seat if the convention fills up. Preferred payment is by Pay Pal. If
you use a Paypal account with a different email address than the one
you used to sign up for the con, please put a note in the payment so
the organizer knows who you are paying for. If you need to pay by check
or money order, then contact the organizer using the "Email the event
organizer" link at the top of this page. If you show up at the
convention as a walk-in, you can pay by cash or check (if there is any
room for you to play).
Click "register to attend" at the top of this page to register.
Click "pricing and payment" at the top of this page to pay.
1 Day
Registration $20.00
2 Day Registration $30.00
Waitlisting
If the game you want to play is full, then go ahead and sign up as
waitlisting for that game. As games waitlist, we will add more judges
and more tables. As we get closer to the day of the con we will be out
of judges or out of room at the hotel, and will quit adding more
tables. When that happens, we will email you, and tell you to move to a
table where you are not waitlisted. There is no guarantee that
waitlisted players will play.
Fine
Print - Blah, Blah, Blah...
You will have to pay your registration fee before you sign up for
games. No refunds will be given for people who cancel, withdraw, or
fail to show up at the game day after registration closes. You must
register with a valid email address in order to be cleared for sign-up.
If you pay via Paypal with a different email address than the one you
registered with, then leave the coordinator a note so that that your
payment can be processed appropriately. The coordinator does not
guarantee walk-ups or people who register after registration is closed
the opportunity to play. If there are open seats, they will
preferentially go to judges and preregistered players first.
Preregistration is strongly encouraged. Registration will probably
close one or two weeks before the event. The coordinator does not
guarantee premustered groups the opportunity to play together. Players
will have the opportunity to muster themselves. If they cannot, then
the coordinator representatives will muster the players. Be open to the
possibility that you will play with some interesting new people.
